According to Kyrgyzstan media kyrtag.kg, Kyrgyzstan is reviewing a draft law prohibiting the introduction, production and use of plastic bags and plastic containers in the Lake Issyk region from 2020. The draft was published on September 3 for public comment.
Experts say that there is more and more garbage on the shores of Lake Issyk and its adjacent areas, especially plastic bags and plastic bottles, which will cause soil erosion; when plastic products enter the water, it will hinder fish from spawning. Therefore, in order to protect the ecological environment of Lake Issyk, the draft proposes to use biodegradable materials instead of plastic products.
