Tajikistan addresses draft UN climate resolution in Bangkok

  Tajikistan presented a draft resolution on climate change, which was named “Strengthening cooperation on climate change and water interconnectedness for sustainable development in Asia and the Pacific”.

  The event was held within the framework of the meeting of the Informal Working Group on consideration of such documents in the capital of Thailand.

  This resolution envisages the expansion of partnership between the member countries of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). In addition, it aims to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal No. 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation).

  It is specified that during the presentation the representative of the republic noted the leading role and influence of the country in shaping the global agenda on water and climate.

  In addition, within the framework of the event, ESCAP participants were urged to support further adoption of this document, thereby ensuring sustainable development of the climate agenda in the region.

  Earlier it became known that the International Conference on Glacier Conservation will be held in Dushanbe at the end of May 2025.

  Tajik President Emomali Rahmon invited the BRICS countries to participate in the event.

  It should be noted that the year 2025 in the republic is dedicated to glacier conservation.
