2018-11-09

According to the "Uzbekistan Daily" reported on September 13, the Ukrainian National Ecological and Environmental Protection Committee recommended that since 2019, environmental protection fees will be levied on some of the manufactured and imported goods that will cause damage to the environment after being abandoned. The relevant draft law has been officially announced. The draft aims to further improve the ecological situation of Uzbekistan, reduce the adverse effects of solid waste on human health, and promote the formation of solid waste collection, storage, transportation, processing, recycling and landfill systems.

The draft proposes environmental protection fees for eight types of products, including lubricants, tires, rubber products, bottles and cans, primary batteries, lamps, commodity packaging, plastics, etc. The standard imposed is 1.4-12.6 times the minimum wage per ton.

The Ecology, Environmental Protection and Waste Treatment Fund will be responsible for managing the environmental protection fees collected and using the funds to support waste treatment and environmental protection related measures.
