Uzbekistan intends to strengthen measures to ensure purity of atmospheric air. This was reported by the press service of the Senate of Oliy Majlis.
Senators approved the Law “On making additions and amendments to the Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Administrative Responsibility in connection with the establishment of mandatory requirements to eliminate the raising of dust and sand particles into the air at construction sites".
It was noted that the national legislation does not provide for specific liability for raising dust into the atmosphere during construction within the requirements of air protection and urban planning rules. Therefore, the current situation requires the establishment of liability of officials of construction organizations for violation of requirements for protection of atmospheric air at construction sites.
The law considered by the senators supplements the Code of Administrative Responsibility with an article establishing liability for this type of offense.
Now the violation of mandatory requirements to eliminate the rise of dust and sand particles into the air at a construction site of 500 square meters or more, on the adjacent territory and exit routes from it, or exceeding the norms of maximum permissible emissions of pollutants into the atmospheric air in these areas shall entail a fine of ten basic calculation units (3 million 750 thousand soums) for officials.
If the offense is committed repeatedly within a year after the application of an administrative penalty, a fine of fifty basic calculation units (18 million 750 thousand soums) shall be imposed on officials.
According to the senators, the adoption of the law will allow to preserve ecological purity of the environment and protect the rights of citizens to use the air favorable for health.
